PATRICK MAYERS

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Patrick James Mayers on April 8, 2026, at the age of 84. He died after a brief illness, with his wife of 61 years, Ann, at his side.

He is survived by his children Lynne, Philip, and Ian; daughters-in-law Nathalie and Julianne; grandchildren Josh, Noah, Jordan, and Kirra; and brothers Donald, Stephen and the late Robert.

Patrick held management roles at James H. Inniss and Son Ltd. later Hanschell Inniss Ltd. and Goddard Enterprises, where he retired as the Deputy Managing Director. He was deeply committed to the Caribbean rum industry, serving the West Indies Rum and Spirits Association (WIRSPA) for 25 years, including two terms as Chair. He also served as a Director of the Central Bank, the West Indies Rum Distillery, and the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce. A Justice of the Peace, he was awarded the Barbados Centennial Honour in 2001 for his contributions to the country.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and family, his joy in his grandchildren, and his love of plants, birds, weather and history. He lived by the family motto, “Persevere and conquer,” and was respected for his hard work and integrity.

A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held on Friday, 17th April 2026, at St. George Parish Church where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbados Heart and Stroke Foundation.
